Vouch is a record of every place to eat and drink in one neighbourhood, written by people who live in it. Not a national platform with a Peckham section. One patch, covered properly, then the next one.
The premise is narrow on purpose. A hundred and sixty listings written by two hundred locals will beat a million listings written by nobody in particular, because the people filing takes here have to walk past the place afterwards.
I think feedback is how things get better, and I do not think that is naive. A kitchen that hears the same complaint four times fixes it. A place that never hears anything keeps doing the thing that quietly puts people off, and then wonders why the room is half empty on a Thursday.
So Vouch is built on a simple bet: that if you make it worth someone's while to write down what a place was actually like, publish it in front of everyone including the owner, and give the owner a real right of reply rather than a delete button, both sides end up better off. Praise that means something requires criticism to be possible.
Every place in the patch is listed whether it pays or not. If the details are wrong, or the page is for a business that closed, tell me and it gets fixed. You can claim the page to correct it yourself and reply to takes in public.
